Q: Is installation difficult? Installation is relatively painless and typically takes around 10 minutes. Simply mount the unit on a shelf or wall, make the connections as specified in the instruction manual, and plug it into a standard wall outlet.
Q: How long can the unit run during an outage? During an outage, the Pump Sentry 822P can ensure continuous power to your sump pump for anywhere from 5 to 70+ hours on a single battery depending upon the capacity of the battery you're using in your setup. With a multiple battery configuration you can expect the pump sentry to provide 50 to 118+ hours of operation.
Q: Is there a warranty? Yes! The manufacturer provides an unconditional warranty of up to 2 years for the Pump Sentry, although the warranty does not cover mistakes in installation that you may cause. But if you follow the easy instructions in the manual you'll be fine.
Q: How long does the unit last? The Pump Sentry is designed and manufactured to last. It's very durable and has an operating life expectancy of around 10 years.
Q: What battery should I use with the unit? We recommend using the OPTIMA BLUE D27M-800 or any similar maintenance-free marine battery.
Q: How loud is the unit? The Pump Sentry has no moving parts and produces virtually no noise during its operation.
Q: Why does the battery monitor say High Charge? The charger always starts at High Charge and then works its way down to Low, then to Fully. Every time the power goes out or the unit is disconnected, it's going to start at high charge to test the battery, no matter how charged the battery is. Depending on the size and charge of the battery, it can say High Charge for anywhere from 15-30 minutes to up to 24 hours.
Q: Do I need to install any additional sump pumps? No! The Pump Sentry works with the pump you have, ensuring that power is available to it in the event of an outage. Thus, there is no need to replace your current sump pump, or add an additional sump pump.

Pump Sentry 822PS
This Pump Sentry 822PS backup system for my 1/3hp primary sump pump is perfect! I didn't want to solely rely on my smaller secondary sump pump battery backup system for any potential power outages during heavy thunderstorms. The smaller secondary pump doesn't pump out nearly the water volume of my primary sump pump - and with my elaborate dewatering system, I didn't want to risk overwhelming the smaller secondary pump backup system if it's not necessary. With the Pump Sentry, if I'm out of town and the power goes out in a heavy thunderstorm, this inverter will detect the outage and automatically switch to battery backup power for my primary sump pump. I paralleled two Interstate SRM-29 batteries although you can parallel up to three batteries if necessary. My setup should give me around 8hrs of battery backup run time with my Zoeller M53 drawing 9 amps and cycling on/off every 30 - 40 seconds. There are higher efficiency pumps like the Flotec Crawlspace Ninja sells that only draw 5-6 amps, which would give you significant more battery backup run time. I've realized I won't always be home to fire up my whole house generator during a rain soaked power outage. This inverter also acts as a battery tender to keep my two batteries charged when not in use. Anyone looking for an effective primary pump backup system should definitely look into the Pump Sentry.
