FAQ: How Much Foundation Butyl Tape Do I Need?
First you need to take a measurement to get the linear feet of your crawl space's perimeter. For example, if you have a crawl space that is 50 feet long and 20 feet wide (1000 square feet) we simply add the measurements of each wall to get your total perimeter linear feet. 50 feet + 20 feet + 50 feet + 20 feet = 140 total linear feet. That's how much butyl tape you'll need. Since each roll is 75 feet, you would need 2 rolls! This will meet your 140 feet requirement. You may also want to calculate pillars.

Tape won't stick
Tape won't stick to Cement wall!

Sticks Nicely
We used a wire brush and Dollar Store LA's Totally Awesome Cleaning Vinegar to clean the poured concrete surface prior to applying the butyl tape. Other than areas of the concrete with rough surface, the butyl tape stuck tenaciously to the concrete. One must be careful to align the vapor barrier to its proper position prior to sticking it to the butyl tape; once the vapor barrier touches the tape, it is stuck. We used a Freeman PSSCP Pneumatic 3" Single Pin Concrete Nailer to drive Ramset 1" Powder Fastener Pins With Washers through the vapor barrier at the middle of the butyl tape at 16 inches on center, to make doubly sure the vapor barrier would not come adrift from the concrete.

Foundation Butyl Tape
Excellent tape, works great but don't let it get stuck to the wrong part of the plastic because the tape is stronger than the 12 mil I am using so I had a couple of holes to patch... the joys of first time users.

Foundation Butyl Tape 1.5x75
Have went through a lot of rolls and some has been in place for over 6 months. Overall a good product, but would like it to be 2 inches wide. It is extremely sticky. Is used to hold plastic sheeting to wall, but will come loose unless helped with clips. Not the tape's fault, but it will come loose from around pillars where gavity isn't pulling the sheeting down. So, although it is extremely sticky it doesn't quite adhere strongly enough over time.
